Letters from the Past
The morning after Chloe and Harriet's discovery at the city archives, Mr. Chen arrived at the community garden carrying something he had kept safe for decades — a small bundle of letters from his grandmother, tied with a faded ribbon. He unfolded one carefully, his weathered hands tracing words written in 1951, the year the first rose was planted. His grandmother had witnessed the dedication ceremony herself, and she had written down every detail: the date, the mayor's presence, the names of the families who had gathered. Chloe read the letter twice, her eyes widening with each line. She wrote the key details into her blue notebook with barely contained excitement. Mr. Chen watched her quietly, hands clasped, wearing the small dignified smile of a man whose family had finally been asked to matter. "She would have wanted people to know," he said. The evidence was building, and the garden was beginning to tell its own story.
