Detective Park stood in the garden with his notepad open and his dignity more or less intact. Thirty years on the force had taught him many things, and one of them was how to write a report that said nothing embarrassing. He scratched 'Community dialogue — case resolved' in careful letters while Chloe watched with the kind of smile she was trying very hard not to show. Luna sat on the fence in perfect stillness, her half-closed eyes fixed on the detective with the quiet authority of someone who has witnessed far too much. 'That's very diplomatic,' Chloe offered. Park snapped his notepad shut and straightened his coat. 'I know when a community has handled its own,' he said. He was entirely correct. Luna, for her part, was not impressed.
