II. Take this to the craft table

Four markers, each cut with enough room to fall gracefully below the page.

Cut each ribbon to the listed length. Seal synthetic ends very carefully, or use fray-stop.
Align the ribbons, staggered slightly, and secure their top ends to a slim card tab.
Slip the tab into the gap between the spine and the bound pages. Never glue the pages themselves.
Close the book gently, then fan the tails so each marker is easy to find.

Craft note: use narrow, colourfast ribbon. If the binding is tight or valuable, ask a bookbinder before inserting anything.
